Obituary - Former Louisville Resident, Geroge C. Montgomery, Dies, Louisville Courier-Journal (February 2, 1951)
George C. Montgomery, 69, former Louisvillian, died Wednesday, in Portland, Ore. He moved to Portland in 1940.
A native of Liberty, Ky., Montgomery was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He lived here from 1927 to 1940 and was sales manager for the Brown Wood Preserving Company and was also associated with the American Creosoting Company.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Hazel T. Montgomery; a son, George C. Montgomery; a son, George C. Montgomery, POrtland; a daughter, Mrs. Sam Manly, III, Louisville; a brother, Charles F. Montgomery, and two sisters, Miss Bess Montgomery and Miss ruby Montgomery, both of Liberty, Ky.
Driver Dies At Wheel; Observer Averts Crash The (Roseburg, Oregon) News-Review, (February 3, 1951)
PORTLAND - An alert pedestrian stopped traffic and prevented a traffic pile-up when he saw a driver slumped over the wheel of a moving car in downtown Portland.
The pedestrian, Clifford M. White, ran to an intersection ahead of the car, and stopped traffic. The car with the unconscious driver rolled across, jumped a curb and stopped against a store doorway. White shouted at three persons in the doorway, and they leaped to safety.
Dead at the wheel was George C. Montgomery, 65, Portland; who had collapsed of a heart attack.
