Obituary - John G. Carr, Danville (KY) Advocate-Messenger (September 17, 1974)
John Goodwin Carr, 74, a retired mason, died unexpectedly at 11:30 pm Monday at his home Glendive Ct. Danville. The Danville Boyle County Rescue Squad was summoned to the residence with Walter Shoopman and Jim Porter assisting.
Husband of Mrs. Jean Elliott Carr, he was born Sept. 22, 1899 in Pulaski County where he attended Somerset High School. He was a son of the late John J. and Mary Mayfield Carr. Having lived here for about a year and half, he was a member of the First Christian Church and also attended University of Kentucky.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Joe Proud of Louisville, and Mrs. Glenn C. Craney of Cannelburg, Ind.; a son, John William Carr of Louisville; a brother George M. Carr of Lakeland Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Hugh Crozer of Harrodsburg; two sister in laws, Martha and Janet Elliott, both of Danville; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with burial in Somerset Cemetery. Dr. Ivan Shelburne and the Rev. Lee Davis Fisher will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
