Happy Holidays
The Kentucky basketball team finally has something to get in the Christmas spirit about, although it wasn't without the intrigue that has followed the team all season.
The Cats used a 31-10 second half run to pull away to a 69-47 victory over Tennessee Tech in Rupp Arena. The win ended a four-game losing streak and gave UK its first win in more than three weeks.
What would usually register nothing more than a yawn on the excitement meter actually had plenty of drama involved. Seniors Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford sat the entire first half, presumably for disciplinary reasons, before entering the game less than four minutes after halftime. Sophomore Jodie Meeks, who made a return to the lineup after six weeks against Houston on Tuesday, was not able to go because of a strained hip flexor.
Playing with one guard (Michael Porter) and four forwards UK stumbled all over itself in the early going before freshman Patrick Patterson got the team going. Patterson finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Cats.
