The game of basket ball played by the State boys against the Cincinnati Y.M.C.A. team Saturday was one of the fastest ever witnessed on local courts. It was apparent from the very outside that the visitors had a faster team, yet the Cadets made them earn every basket. The end of the first half found the score 17 to 6 in Cincinnati's favor. It was in the second half that the Cadets showed their work, keeping the score down to 26 to 16, making a final score of 43 to 22.
Lusik showed up for the visitors, throwing 12 goals. Bryants for K.S.C. throwing 7. Walters for State played an excellent game at guard.

LOCAL TEAM DEFEATED
Ohio Champions Won Every Game Played in Kentucky
The double-header basket ball game in this city yesterday between the Cincinnati Y.M.C.A. team and the two local college teams resulted in a victory for the former in each instance. The effectiveness of the visitors in their team work, especially in the State College game, is probably the cause for their overwhelming victory. They succeeded in defeated the cadets to the tune of 48 to 22, while the Crimsons last night held them to the tight score of 23 to 19. The local teams, although in good form, showed that they were lacking in practice in follow-up plays, and their opponents were ready to take advantage of this loophole.
The K.U. boys played a much better game than they were expected to for the amount of practice they have had, and attribute their loss to unlucky breaks. They were always on the wrong side of the decision as to fouls and made three goals that were not allowed to tally. The Cincinnati team holds the championship for Ohio, and have always have a cracker-jack team to put out.
They defeated the Georgetown College team Friday night at Georgetown by a decided score and thus take back to Ohio three Kentucky scalps in their belt. The line-up in the two games follow:
S.C.: Coons (Capt.) (Center), Waters (guard), Branson (guard), Kelly (forward), Bryant (forward)
Y.M.C.A. : Raum (Center), Sandan (guard), Alamare (guard), Lucik (Capt.) (forward), Opelt (forward)
K.U.: Wallace (center), Evans (guard), Campbell (guard), Barger (forward), Hayden (forward)
Y.M.C.A.: Raum (Center), Sandan (guard), Alamare (guard), Lucik (forward), Opelt (forward)
(JPS Note: I included the listed lineups from the Lexington Herald in addition to the box from the Lexington Leader because the names of the Y.M.C.A. players are different. Not sure why but that may be intentional. For example the "McMien" listed by the Herald may be Fred McMinn, who was a basketball star at the University of Cincinnati at the time.)
