Dr. M.S. Bennett, 83; Retired Dentist, Coach
Dr. Michael S. Bennett, 83, former dentist, legislator and football coach, died Saturday at the home of his son, Dr. George P. Bennett, in Edgely. He lived at 5400 N. 5th St.
Dr. Bennett practiced dentistry for 58 years before retiring in 1963. He was elected to the Philadelphia City Council in 1916 and the following year was elected to the State Legislature.
He formerly coached football at Mercersburg Academy, Chestnut Hill, and the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn.
Besides his son, he is survived by three grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services 11 a.m. tomorrow, Bishop Funeral Home, 5408 N. 5th Street.
