Frank J. Philipps
Former Dayton Man, Dies at His Home in Cincinnati
Friends of Frank J. Philipps, 34, brother of Ed G. Philipps, C. Philipps bath house, will regret to learn that his death occurred in Cincinnati. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Vine Street cemetery, the Rev. Frank Nelson of Christ Church officiating.
Mr. Philipps used to be associated with the other members of his family in the bath house business, and he was at one time a star swimmer. At the time of his death he was proprietor of the Avondale swimming pool. Previous to opening his natatorium at Avondale he was swimming instructor at the Cincinnati Gymnasium and Athletic club, where he helped to develop some of the best swimmers. Later he resigned this position to become physical director of Christ Church, Cincinnati, where he remained until he went into business himself.
