Boyle Co. Native Dead at 72 In Virginia
DANVILLE, Ky. - Charles R. McDowell, 72, a native of Danville, died Saturday in a hospital at Charlottesville Va., after a brief illness.
A former student at Centre College, where he was a football and basketball star, he practiced law here for a short period after attending the Yale University Law School and was also employed on the local newspapers.
He had been a professor of law at Washington and Lee University since 1927. He was the author of "The Iron Baby Angel," a humorous novel dealing with life in Danville at the turn of the century.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Catherine Feland of Lawrenceburg, and two sons.
Services were conducted Monday in the cemetery at Lexington Va.
