Obituary - G.J. McKenney Dies at 76, Lexington Herald (January 10, 1973)
Mr. McKenney joined the 4-H Club Department in 1922 and had served as a field agent in various parts of the state for 41 years.
A native of Garrard County, he was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a veteran of World War I. He taught school in Versailles for a year prior to joining the UK staff.
Since his retirement from UK in 1964 he had helped his son operate a farm in Western Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Teresa McKenney; two sons, Tom McKenney, Marion, and Dr. Jerry McKenney, Sturgis; two daughters, Mrs. Lyle Bach, Hannibal Mo., and Mrs. Clarence Jordan, Louisville; four sisters, Mrs. Temple Morford and Mrs. Mayme Runyon, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Fannie Lanter, Winchester, and Mrs. Vernon Bryant, Bradenton, Fla., and 13 grandchildrena and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary - Broadway. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.
