He was section chief of the agricultural conservation and price support programs here for the US Department of Agriculture, and had worked with the USDA for many years.
Mr. Marsh was born in Maysville, a son of the late Millard Fillmore and Mary D. Toup Marsh. He attended Maysville schools, and was graduated in 1919 from the University of Kentucky, where he lettered in basketball.
He was county agent at Somerset for several years, later worked as a dairy inspector in Birmingham, Ala. and for a time owned and operated a dairy products plant at Cynthiana. He was a member of the Christian church at Maysville and secretary of the Lexington Chamber Music Society.
Mr. Marsh was a brother-in-law of the late Margaret Mitchell, (Mrs. John Marsh) and two years ago made foreign-language editions of her "Gone With the Wind" and personal momentoes of the author available to the Lexington Public Library for display.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Francesca Renick Marsh; a son, Gordon Renick Marsh, Lexington; a brother, Henry N. Marsh, Wilmington, Del., and two sisters, Mrs. Rollin Zone, Hartford, Conn., and Mrs. A.O. Bowden, Los Angeles, Calif.
Private services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the grave in the Lexington cemetery by the Rev. Clarke Bloomfield. The body will remain at Kerr Brothers funeral home until time for services.
