Obituary - 'Red' Craig, Former AHS Star, Dies, Ashland Daily Independent (August 30, 1969)
John T. (Red) Craig, 55, of 329 Ninth Street, who starred in football, baseball, basketball, and track for the Ashland Tomcats during the early 1930's, was dead on arrival at 12:35 p.m. Friday at King's Daughters' Hospital following a short illness.
Born May 7, 1914, in Ashland, he was a son of the late Rex and Leah Dixon Craig. He served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Craig was named to the 1933 and 1934 Kentucky All-Star basketball squads and to the 1933 All-State football roster.
He had been employed in Cape Kennedy, Fla. where he operated a charger fishing vessel.
He is survived by a son, Donald Craig in California.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending arrival of the son. The body is at the John Steen Funeral Home.
