Sam Pecoraro Dies; Veteran Sports Figure
Services will be held Thursday in St. Vincent's Church, 1010 W. Webster St. for Sam Pecoraro, 56, of 433 Diversey Pkwy., a veteran sports official and recreation department employee of the Chicago park district for 28 years. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery.
Mr. Pecoraro, who officiated high school and college basketball games and also high school, college and National Football league games, died Saturday afternoon in St. Anthony's hospital, Long Beach, ind., or a liver condition.
The body will be at Scanlon's, 2907 N. Clark St., tomorrow and Wednesday.
Mr. Pecoraro was general superintendent of building facilities operating for the Chicago park district. He was in charge of golf courses, beaches, and the maintenance of all buildings.
Mr. Pecoraro, who attended De Paul Academy and De Paul University, is survived by his widow, Mento; a son, Nino, 12, and a sister, Mrs. Rose Marino of Chicago.
