Obituary - John H.L. Vogt, Vista (CA) Press (April 26, 1970)
A civil engineer, Vogt graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1903. He was captain of the football during his senior year. He moved to the county in 1911 and spent 15 years in San Diego, 15 years in Julian and the last 20 years in Vista.
Vogt and his widow, Eva, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6, last year. He was a civil engineer with the County Road Department for 22 years and the last 25 years was consulting engineer for Browne and Vogt, Engineering Surveyors, Inc.
The deceased was a member of the Vista Rotary Club, All Saints Episcopal Church and was a charter member of both the Ramona Masonic Lodge and the Vista Masonic Lodge. He was a past master of the Ramona Lodge.
Survivors in addition to his widow, include two sons, Frederick of San Diego and Julian of Washington D.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Melnsina Critz of San Diego, Mrs. Lucy Alber of Chula Visa and Mrs. Dorothy Stacey of Hawaii; seven grandsons, seven granddaughters and seven great grandchildren.
Private family memorial services will be held Monday at Vista Chapel Mortuary followed by cremation and internment at Eternal Hills Cemetery. The family suggest donations to the Heart Fund, in the name of the deceased in lieu of flowers.
