Obituary - Edward J. Tierney, State Journal (Frankfort)
Tierney died Thursday at 4:40 a.m. in King's Daughters Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Ky.
Born in Ashland, Tierney was project engineer for the state, retiring in 1978. He belonged to the Good Shepherd Church, K-Men Club, University of Kentucky Alumni Association, Kentucky Society for Professional Engineers and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Joseph Tierney, Long Island, N.Y., Michael Edward Tierney, Hawaii, Bryan Ashley Tierney, Vero Beach, Fla., and seven grandchildren.
He was the son of the late John Joseph and Katherine Frances Sweeney Tierney.
Father David Gamma will officiate at the services here and Father Ted Kelley will officiate in Ashland.
Bearers will be Silas Noel, Keith Abbott, August Luscher, Bill Shy, John M. Smith, Claude Hammond and James Terrell.
There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today in Rogers Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. today.

Edward Joseph Tierney, 67, Frankfort, formerly of Ashland, died Thursday in King's Daughters' Hospital in Frankfort.
Mr. Tierney was born Oct. 26, 1912 in Ashland, a son of the late John J. and Katherine Frances Sweeney Tierney. He was a retired project engineer for the state of Kentucky, was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Frankfort, the K-Mens Club of former University of Kentucky athletes, a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of Holy Family Church of Ashland.
Surviving are three sons, Dennis Joseph Tierney of Long Island, N.Y., Michael Edward Tierney of Hawaii and Bryan Ashley Tierney of Vero Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Frankfort. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Ashland Cemetery.
The body is at the Rogers Funeral Home in Frankfort, where friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today.
