Obituary - Benny Spears 1948-2000, Ashland Daily Independent (May 10, 2000)
Mr. Spears was born July 5, 1948, in Pikeville, a son of Earlene Damron Spears of Ashland the late Broadus David Spears.
He was an operating engineering with IOEU Local 181 and attended the University of Kentucky.
Additional survivors include his wife, Sherry Ann Fraley Spears of Catlettsburg; a son, Cody Spears of Ashland; a daughter, Cora Spears of Ashland; a stepdaughter, Amanda Steele of Catlettsburg; and a brother, David "Buck" Spears of Fairfield, Ohio.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lazear Funeral Home by Kenneth Vaughn and Jerry Bliffin, ministers. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
