He graduated from Carroll County High School in 1967 and University of Kentucky College of Law in 1974. He played basketball for UK as a Freshman walk-on in 67-68 and Varsity for Rupp's last year (sic) in 1968-69.
He practiced law throughout Eastern Kentucky and Lexington for over 35 years. In 1993, he purchased the Henry Clay property of 1805 located on 110-112 North Upper Street. He spent many years rescuing and restoring the building into law offices and the Henry Clay Public House. He was a member, Usher, and Deacon at Crestwood Christian Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years (Jane), one daughter (Rachel) of Charlotte, North Carolina, one brother (Dr. David Harris) of Paris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
