Ex-Lincoln High Coach Browne Dies
William H. Browne, former Lincoln High school football coach and University of Nebraska football aide, died Sunday. He was 87.
Through his eight-year tenure as Lincoln High School football coach, beginning in 1922, Browne compiled a 68-3-2 record.
He was an assistant coach under Nebraska head coaches Dana X. Bible and Biff Jones before entering military intelligence service during World War II.
Browne is survived by a son, William H. Jr., a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy Jean) Thorne, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
