Louis F. "Weenie" Miller, 81, of the First Colonial Inn passed away Friday, May 23, 2003, in a local hospital.
Born in Richmond, Va., Weenie was a retired Athletic Director for Hampden-Sydney College. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Family, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, American Legion Post 0035, University of Richmond and Hampden-Sydney College Hall of Fame, Board of Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Director of Camp Wahoo of Miller School in Virginia, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond and honorary alumnus of VMI.
He is survived by his wife, Betty K. Miller; daughters, Patricia Lee Beaman and her husband, Mark and Martha Ann Miller, both of Austin, Texas; four sons, Louis F. Miller, Jr. and his wife, Patty, of Singapore, Charles L. Miller of Manassas, Va., David M. Miller and his wife, Joan, of Lexington, Va., and Daniel P. Miller and his wife, Anne, of Wayne, Pa.; and eight grandchildren, Charles W., Elizabeth M., Michael D., Rachel L., Katherine K., John F., Timothy J. Miller, and Sarah A. Beaman.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Church of the Holy Family by Fr. Thomas Quinlin. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Park, Lexington, Va. with Rev. N. Alan Lipscomb officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hampden-Sydney Athletic Fund.
