George Anthony Krajack of Davidson, NC peacefully left this earth on Friday April 1, 2016. George was 79. He is survived by his beloved wife, Leda, his daughter Kim Marston, her husband John, his daughter Lynn Del Negro, her husband Vinny, granddaughters Brooke and Amy Marston, his brother Edward Krajack, his sister Kathy Smith, his step-children: Cary Dudley, Kelly Lewis, her husband Steven, Raegan Martin, Leda's grandchildren and his beloved dog, Drover.
George was born in McKeesport, PA to Eleanor and George Krajack. He grew up there and was part of McKeesport High School's 1955 State Championship Basketball team his senior year. After MHS, he went to Shattuck Military Preparatory school for a year before Coach Press Maravich recruited him for Clemson University in 1956. By his junior year he was Clemson's leading rebounder. That same year his brother, Ed joined him at Clemson making them the first brothers to play basketball together in the ACC. He graduated in 1960, and after serving a year in the Army as platoon leader of the 87th infantry company E. Afterward Lieutenant Krajack returned to Clemson as Coach of the Men's Freshman Basketball team. His time at Clemson also allowed him many cherished lifelong friendships.
After coaching college basketball George started selling high end men's clothing. In 1999 he made another change to his course to work in custom staircase building. This eventually led him to Piedmont Stairs, where he worked until the end. George was active throughout his life, playing high level tennis and participating in the National Senior Games, where he won a silver medal in basketball at age 72. He loved living on the lake. He loved the view, the people, the activities and just quality time with his family and his puppy. He was a faithful member of Mecklenburg Community Church 8335 Browne Road in Charlotte, NC 28269 , where we will hold the memorial at 2 p.m. on April 21, 2016.
George touched and influenced so many lives with his motivating speeches, positive attitude, and his 'mental toughness.' There is a hole in the universe where he used to be. He was such a charismatic and optimistic person. He was earnest and sincere. He was so much more than words can say. Beloved husband, father, grandpap, brother, uncle, friend, mentor, teammate, and coach. Everybody loved George.
His family is grateful and blessed to have loved and been loved in return by such an amazing human being. He spent his last days at Levine & Dickson Hospice. His family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice as a tribute to 'George Krajack' or to Myleofibrosis Research in honor of 'George Krajack'.
