Ex-Senator Dies at 80
MORGANTON - Andrew Burnet Stoney, 80, former senator and representative from Burke County in the N.C. General Assembly, died Saturday.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Church by the Rt. Rev. M. George Henry and the Rev. John Carter. Burial, Forest Hill Cemetery.

MORGANTON, N.C. - Andrew Burnet Stoney, 80, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Born in Camden S.C., he was a son of the late Rev. James and Jane Shannon Stoney. He was founder of the Stoney-Kistler Insurance Agency in Morganton in 1938 and was a former representative and senator from Burke County, N.C.
He was director of the Northwestern Bank and was a member of the Junior Order, the Morganton Kiwanis Club and was a Mason. He was a Navy veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his widow; Mrs. Mary Collett Wilson Kistler Stoney; a son, Andrew M. Kistler of Morganton; a daughter, Mrs. Mary K. Stahl of Brussells, Belgium; a brother, the Rev. William S. Stoney of Saluda, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Homer Blackwell of Laurens, S.C.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Grace Episcopal Church with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family suggest that those who wish may make memorials to the South Mountain Institute or the Patterson School in Lenoir, N.C.
